Daniel Ayorinde Obajemu

Founder & President, Liberian Astronomical Society

Daniel Obajemu is the Founder and President of the Liberian Astronomical Society (LAS), an initiative dedicated to promoting space science education and awareness across Liberia. With a deep passion for astronomy and a strong commitment to youth empowerment, he established LAS to bridge the gap in access to scientific knowledge and inspire a new generation of thinkers, innovators, and problem solvers. As a young leader, Daniel has demonstrated the power of vision driven leadership by building a platform that brings together students, educators, and professionals from diverse backgrounds to explore the wonders of space science. Under his leadership, the Society has focused on community outreach, educational engagement, and advocacy, working to make astronomy accessible to individuals regardless of their academic level or field of study. Daniel’s work is rooted in the belief that science and innovation are essential tools for national development. Through LAS, he has organized awareness initiatives, engaged young people in STEM related discussions, and championed the importance of integrating space science into Liberia’s educational and developmental agenda. His leadership reflects resilience, creativity, and a commitment to creating opportunities where few previously existed. Beyond his role in LAS, Daniel is actively engaged in global youth and leadership initiatives, continuously seeking knowledge and collaboration that can strengthen his impact at home. He is particularly interested in advancing policies and programs that support scientific literacy and innovation in emerging communities. Looking ahead, Daniel envisions a future where Liberia develops a strong presence in the global space science community, including the establishment of the country’s first national astronomical framework. Through strategic partnerships, advocacy, and education, he is committed to making this vision a reality.
